Time Changes and Moving Onto New Spots jolenemac455, November 6, 2019March 14, 2020 The time has changed and the days are getting shorter and shorter. Now is usually the time that most of the workampers we know have gotten their assignments or are looking to pick up new ones. The late fall and winter months in Florida are a very tough time to get workamping assignments unless someone had to cancel their service for whatever reason. There are usually a long list of people waiting to jump in to our southern Florida State Parks and you may have a better chance at the more northern areas. Get the eBook version of our book https://etceterasstore.jolenesbooksandmore.com/product/insiders-guide-to-campground-hosting-in-florida-parks-ebook/ Our book the “Insiders Guide to Campground Hosting in Florida Parks” is still an excellent resource guide for those looking on getting themselves a workamping assignment this peak season or maybe you would like to get the late spring and summer months assignment scheduled in advance. Sometimes it’s great to know in advance where you will be in a few months time. It is great experience and helps build up your resume and references for future assignments in more popular places. Personally, I would rather work in the less populated areas as they generally need the most help and are easier to get assignments. One year we spent about 18 months in the same three county areas in north Florida by staying 4 months in a day-use only park, two different river camp and a large state park with a large campground. So long as you have access to a self-contained recreational vehicle of some kind, are over 18 years old and are willing to work at least 20 hours per week with the park rangers you can spend the rest of your hours enjoying the park, using their facilities or just hanging out enjoying nature. The park rangers would be willing to sign-off on your paperwork and assist you with any assignments that the teacher(s) needs in order to give you credit for your summer assignments. It may count towards an internship, extra credit, work experience or even as a full college credit. Share our book with your teachers and see if they would be willing to participate.
