Are you a fearless female RVer ready to conquer the open road, but feeling a little nervous about finding and setting up camp after dark? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! In this blog post, we’ll share practical advice and tips for women RVers on navigating the challenges of late-night camping. So grab your flashlight and let’s light up the night together!

Introduction: The increasing number of women embracing the RV lifestyle

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of women who are embracing the RV lifestyle. Make Sure You Have an Emergency Fund

Make Sure You Have an Emergency Fund

Having an emergency fund set up for yourself and your family is extremely important no matter where or how you are living. But, when you are traveling full-time on the road it is even more important. Having a stash of cash and a couple of paid off credit cards just in case something breaks should be your first priority BEFORE hitting the road. There is no magic sum of money that you really need to have on-hand but there are several suggestions from other full-timers out there that we have come across and thought you might appreciate to learn. It should be a starting point for you to come up with a figure for you and the adventure you are seeking to explore. This goes for those living in the cars, trucks, campers, trailers, vans and luxury recreational vehicles. And it does matter if you are traveling cross country or just a few states over.

Kids Camping Activity Booklet Series

Kids Camping Activity Booklet Series

Hello, and Happy Summer Everyone! We have finally created our first Kids Camping Activity Booklet in the Florida Public Land Area Series. We will include puzzles, search-a-words, cryptograms, coloring pages, geocache maps, activity worksheets, as well as spaces to paste or draw pictures and write about your experience at the park. Teaching our kids about all the great Florida Public Land Areas is such a great way to get them outside, enjoying nature, appreciating our delicate environment, and, hopefully, teaching their kids in the future. Ensuring that we have these beautiful spaces in the future will go a long way in helping us protect mother earth.

Getting Ready for Active Summer of Bad Weather

Posted on May 25, 2018 By Jolene MacFadden
Getting Ready for Active Summer of Bad Weather

For those of us sticking around this summer in sunny Florida and are Full-Time RVers we have to be prepared to bug out at a moments notice from any public land areas we happen to be volunteering in or just camping in. County, State and National Parks, Forests and Wildlife Refuges are required to evacuate any guests and personnel staying in the area during a major weather event. Now our normal summer storms don’t count and really only those “Named” storms are really required by some authorities as worthy of closing down services within the public lands themselves. Of course, once someone declares the on-coming storm as any level of a Hurricane you are going to relocate elsewhere anyway. Heavy Class A RVs are okay to stay in during a storm so long as you not under a canopy of trees. Both those thin walls travel trailers not so much.

GoodIntentionsRVing Authors is the second part of our blog series this week. We will be giving you a listing of all the writers we have found that are either part-time or full-time RVing and writing and publishing their stories for us to enjoy. Again, we hope you will support these writers by buying their books, sharing them with your friends, family and other travelers. We have them all listed in our OGA Store page under RVing Fiction so if you would go to that page and purchase your items we would greatly appreciate it.

Reading While Traveling

Posted on January 5, 2016 By Jolene MacFadden

TroubleInOrangeBeachReading while traveling in your recreational vehicle and camping in some great campground is probably one of the top 5 past times when RVing. We just like to relax while we are camping and reading does that for us. We have found that most of our RVing pals do as well. So, for this blog post we decided to download some eBooks to our Kindle and see what is available that uses camping, RVing, and/or campgrounds as part of their story. To get started I read through some of the Full-Time RVing Facebook group pages to see if anyone has made any suggestions lately. From there I was able to go on Amazon and check out the titles recommended. A nice feature that Amazon has is that they give you recommendations based on your current searches as well as what others have bought when they purchased the books that you are looking at. My mom and I like murder mysteries. So most of our selections and recommendations will be in that area. We went ahead and added a new section to our Amazon Affiliate Page labeled RVing/Camping Fiction to get you started. We all have our favorite authors that we read but we thought it would be fun to gather a listing of those stories that we could relate to as RVers.
