Traveling during the holiday season has always been a norm for most of us around the world. Whether we wish to spend time with our friends and family at home or we wish to get away from all the hustle and bustle and enjoy some peace and quiet somewhere. A trip to go skiing or snuggle down with a good book next to a roaring fire in the mountains would be sweet. We hope that wherever you roam you travel safely and arrive at your destination in good health. For those coming to Florida for the Winter – Welcome, keep your social distance still, but volunteer when and where you can. Our parks and public land areas are open and could use some great workampers.

Three Authors on The Road

We thought we would revisit our Authors on the Road and get an update or add new authors. This post only has three authors on the road. Stay tuned for more later. Just an FYI for us we finally heard back from the Florida State Parks (Department of Environmental Protection) Marketing and Communication Office. They sent us an application but we have to fill it out for every single one of the parks we want to visit. (Oh my!). Well, that is going to take a little bit of time.
Update on Books and New Places to Review

We have a sort of update on the books we want to write and the new places we want to visit to write reviews. The state parks in Florida have some of the best places to workcamp. They have a solid program in place and very gracious and hardworking Volunteer Coordinators. With all the weird news and people taking pictures where they shouldn’t there have been problems. Some of that is false impressions by amateurs on social media. Some are even the people making a big mess when they come through the parks. Mostly, not being respectful of the environment and its residents. We have re-visited a couple of the parks closest to where we are currently living and working to get updated videos and pictures. We tried interviewing some of the workampers and park personnel but no go there. The last few places stated that we have to have permission from Tallahassee to move forward with our project.
Happy Labor Day Workampers

Happy Labor Day Weekend Workampers! We hope you are keeping yourself safe but having a good time wherever you may be working at this time of year. We have created a little short video and uploaded it to our YouTube Channel. I don’t know about you but I am still trying to figure out all these new rules and ways of doing things to get more subscribers, more views, and more comments. This is supposed to go into the YouTube Shorts Section. We will see how that pans out. And we just noticed that we are up to 67 subscribers to this channel!!!
Got a New Cover and some Additional Pages added to the kid’s activity workbook
Workamping in Lake City Florida

One of our all-time favorite places we workamped over the years was a small county park located in Lake City, Florida. It is located inside the city limits so the cellphone reception was very good and the park includes a business internet connection through Xfinity. The basic cable wasn’t all that great but it was nice to have just the same. They provide a very nice, level campsite that can accommodate almost any sized recreational vehicle/travel trailer. Yes, you must have a self-contained camper and you will need to go to one of the local laundromats to wash/dry your clothes.
Kids Camping Activity Booklet Series

Hello, and Happy Summer Everyone! We have finally created our first Kids Camping Activity Booklet in the Florida Public Land Area Series. We will include puzzles, search-a-words, cryptograms, coloring pages, geocache maps, activity worksheets, as well as spaces to paste or draw pictures and write about your experience at the park. Teaching our kids about all the great Florida Public Land Areas is such a great way to get them outside, enjoying nature, appreciating our delicate environment, and, hopefully, teaching their kids in the future. Ensuring that we have these beautiful spaces in the future will go a long way in helping us protect mother earth.
