Holiday Travel and Seasons Greetings

Holiday Travel and Seasons Greetings

Traveling during the holiday season has always been a norm for most of us around the world. Whether we wish to spend time with our friends and family at home or we wish to get away from all the hustle and bustle and enjoy some peace and quiet somewhere. A trip to go skiing or snuggle down with a good book next to a roaring fire in the mountains would be sweet. We hope that wherever you roam you travel safely and arrive at your destination in good health. For those coming to Florida for the Winter – Welcome, keep your social distance still, but volunteer when and where you can. Our parks and public land areas are open and could use some great workampers.

Revisit Our Florida Workamping Book

Posted on April 19, 2021 By Jolene MacFadden
Revisit Our Florida Workamping Book

We want to revisit our Florida Workamping book this post. The “Insiders Guide to Campground Hosting in Florida Parks“, is still a valid resource for anyone who wants to volunteer in our beautiful Florida public land areas. My mom and I really enjoyed our times at every one of our assignments. They all had their good and bad parts but all in all we enjoyed ourselves, got some stuff done for the rangers, and even learned a thing or two while we were there. We are not big hikers, kayakers or even environmentalist but we do enjoy the history and the quiet at most of the places were worked. We cannot stress how important it is to each of these public land areas that they have dependable, reliable, and hard-working volunteers. You DO NOT have to be handy with tools or equipment but a willingness to learn goes a long way with most of them.

Leaving the Full-Time RVing World For Now

Leaving the Full-Time RVing World For Now

Life is certainly funny these days. Well, we have finally gotten out of the full-time RVing game all together today. We were trying to renovate our old class A RV while workamping and being on vacation during this virus thing. However, when we finally got the money together and our little renovation helpers we found out that the RV had to be completely gutted and start over. Sadly, the park could not really allow us to do that even with it being closed and frankly, we didn’t have enough money to cover that kind of redo. So we have decided on a new adventure all together!

Busy Season In Florida

Busy Season In Florida

Beginning around the end of October Florida’s workamping assignments get pretty scarce. If you don’t already have assignments for the high season you may just end up paying for where you stay until you can find a placement. Generally, if you have workamped anywhere before you can keep checking with the volunteer coordinator to see if someone has canceled out. You will have to be willing to go as soon as a position becomes available.

Come By and See Us

Come By and See Us

Over the next couple of weeks while the RVing season is ramping up here in Florida I decided to try and sell more copies of the reference guide I created for those who wanted to find out more about volunteer workamping in Florida. The guide is still good for everything except for the contact names. Florida State Park employees as well as some of the other employees at all of the organizations in the book have a tendency to retired, quit or change jobs quite often. So, even though the Volunteer Coordinator we have listed in the book may have moved on there is no reason why you couldn’t just ask for the current one and get their name and email address over the phone. Remember that each organization has their own procedures for getting new workampers it does not hurt to send a copy of your filled out application directly to the coordinator at the parks you want to volunteer at and say that you have submitted the documents as requested but would like to send them a copy just in case they didn’t receive one yet.

We May Be Stationary but Working On Moving

We May Be Stationary but Working On Moving

Right now we may be stationary but I am working as fast and hard as I can to get this current book I am writing finished and, hopefully, selling lots of copies or perhaps get a couple of corporate sponsors to help in publication and marketing. Once, it is finally completed we will be moving our dead RV to my brother’s house for renovations. We will be looking for another RV of some type to continue our travels. My mom still wants to go and I really want to finish visiting ALL of the state parks before we venture out to other states. To that end we hope you will support us by buying our handcrafted items from our various online stores, visiting our websites, clicking on the advertisements (hey, every penny counts), share and love our posts on social media or even join our membership site.
