We May Be Stationary but Working On Moving

Posted on April 10, 2019 By Jolene MacFadden
We May Be Stationary but Working On Moving

Right now we may be stationary but I am working as fast and hard as I can to get this current book I am writing finished and, hopefully, selling lots of copies or perhaps get a couple of corporate sponsors to help in publication and marketing. Once, it is finally completed we will be moving our dead RV to my brother’s house for renovations. We will be looking for another RV of some type to continue our travels. My mom still wants to go and I really want to finish visiting ALL of the state parks before we venture out to other states. To that end we hope you will support us by buying our handcrafted items from our various online stores, visiting our websites, clicking on the advertisements (hey, every penny counts), share and love our posts on social media or even join our membership site.

Wrapping Up Summer

Wrapping Up Summer

We should all be wrapping up our summer and getting ready for fall. For some that means getting the kids ready for school and older ones might be going off to college. For most of us full-time RVers it means we may want to start heading south in anticipation of colder weather in the northern areas. Mountainous areas may be great to visit to try and get away from those hot summer months but play heck on the older bodies as the temps start going lower and lower each week.

Summer Camping Or Wait Till Fall

Posted on May 14, 2018 By Jolene MacFadden
Summer Camping Or Wait Till Fall

Are you going to camping in Florida this summer or wait until the weather cools off a bit in the Fall? Normally, most of the full-time RVers have already left Florida for cooler places in the mountains of the Smokies, the Rockies and the really lucky ones are headed to Alaska for the summer month there. We really don’t blame everyone from leaving the southern part of Florida and even here in the Northeast part for the really hot months that are already here. We should be starting with our every afternoon rain/thunderstorms real soon. Which will be a little relief during the days and help the nights to be a little cooler. But, of course, then we will get a platoon of mosquitoes out of the bargain. And, of course, there is the whole, Oh, No! a hurricane is coming where should we go?

Butts Bottles and Bags

Butts Bottles and Bags

Butts, Bottles, and Bags. Yep, I have been trying to remember to write this post for a couple of months now. It’s pretty much the majority of what we do as volunteer workampers in almost every single assignment. We pick up a lot of water bottles, those plastic bags floating around the picnic areas and cigarette butts. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing against people smoking outdoors, to each his own, and all of that but please use one of those portable ashtrays with the lids on them, people! They keep your butts in one place, comes with a lid you can open and dump the contents into the trash, helps put out the cigarette and keeps the still lit cigarette from catching stuff on fire when tossed into dry leaves. Not that that happens very often, especially right now, when everything is still so damp from all the rains we have had and the cold winter. But still, it’s a pain to pick them all up even in the fire pits.

Colt Creek State Park Now Needing Campground Hosts

Posted on March 3, 2018 By Jolene MacFadden
Colt Creek State Park Now Needing Campground Hosts

I just received an email from the Volunteer Coordinator at Colt Creek State Park stating that as of 2/19/2018 they are accepting volunteer applications for 1 Campground Host and 3 Resident Hosts positions from July to December of this year. The campground just opened so everything is new and should be in excellent shape. Not much maintenance to do just keeping everything clean and the trash picked up. You still need to go online and fill out the volunteer application and specify Colt Creek State Park as one of your destinations and it should go directly to the Volunteer Coordinator. Don’t forget to make a copy of the application for yourself just before you send it so that if it gets lost in the ether all you have to do is email the copy. We suggest that you follow-up the application about 7 to 10 business days after you submit it online.

Spring Cleaning Up

Posted on February 17, 2018 By Jolene MacFadden
Spring Cleaning Up

The RV and volunteer campsite needs to have its spring cleaning done on it. Living in one spot for any length of time and you will collect a variety of things in and around your RV and site. Your RV will also need to be washed up, the roof cleaned and made ready for an annual maintenance it will need and the tires checked to make sure there are no dry-rot spots. We also like to take everything out of the storage compartments, clean the boxes up and reorganize everything back into their various storage bags, boxes, etc. and throw away things we have collected but haven’t used in over a year.
