We May Be Stationary but Working On Moving

Posted on April 10, 2019 By Jolene MacFadden
We May Be Stationary but Working On Moving

Right now we may be stationary but I am working as fast and hard as I can to get this current book I am writing finished and, hopefully, selling lots of copies or perhaps get a couple of corporate sponsors to help in publication and marketing. Once, it is finally completed we will be moving our dead RV to my brother’s house for renovations. We will be looking for another RV of some type to continue our travels. My mom still wants to go and I really want to finish visiting ALL of the state parks before we venture out to other states. To that end we hope you will support us by buying our handcrafted items from our various online stores, visiting our websites, clicking on the advertisements (hey, every penny counts), share and love our posts on social media or even join our membership site.

Colt Creek State Park Now Needing Campground Hosts

Posted on March 3, 2018 By Jolene MacFadden
Colt Creek State Park Now Needing Campground Hosts

I just received an email from the Volunteer Coordinator at Colt Creek State Park stating that as of 2/19/2018 they are accepting volunteer applications for 1 Campground Host and 3 Resident Hosts positions from July to December of this year. The campground just opened so everything is new and should be in excellent shape. Not much maintenance to do just keeping everything clean and the trash picked up. You still need to go online and fill out the volunteer application and specify Colt Creek State Park as one of your destinations and it should go directly to the Volunteer Coordinator. Don’t forget to make a copy of the application for yourself just before you send it so that if it gets lost in the ether all you have to do is email the copy. We suggest that you follow-up the application about 7 to 10 business days after you submit it online.

Getting Ready for Local Author Expo

Posted on June 28, 2016 By Jolene MacFadden

ONF05052016 (18)We have been at our current assignment for 3 months now and have been really busy during our stay here. With no other volunteer we have been working 7 days a week since we got here. We have been updating our online stores with new items and I am working on a new book. In the mean time we have decided to offer our eBook version of our current book for 1/2 price for retail customers and $0.99 for Libraries. Below is a cute little widget from Smashwords to help promote our new pricing. We will be changing the Amazon Kindle price as well but not the paperback version. We only get a couple of dollars on these anyway.

RVing Mysteries

Posted on March 28, 2016 By Jolene MacFadden

TheEndOfTheRoadRVing mysteries seem to be on the rise. More and more young people are hitting the road in recreational vehicles but they still have to earn a living along the way. We decided to write a two-part blog post listing most of the stories we have found that were either writing about characters camping, traveling and/or living in RVs. The other article will be a listing of those writers we have found who actually travel in their RVs while writing and publishing their stores. We hope you enjoy this listing and will support these authors by buying and reading their stories and sharing them with your friends, family and fellow travelers.

We have a selection picked out that you can get by clicking on our Amazon Affiliate advertisement below or you can visit our AStore page and see all of them in one place. We really appreciate it if you decide to purchase any of these that you will use our links below or our Astore page as we get a couple of pennies on each purchase to help us keep our website going.

Busy Busy Here at Anastasia

Posted on March 3, 2016 By Jolene MacFadden

ASP02102016 (2)We have been so busy over the last couple of weeks and now we are down to less than 4 weeks remaining in our assignment here at Anastasia State Park. We have been having a pretty good time here and the weather, for the most part, has been quite nice. Between working in the campground, working here and there around the park, updating all our websites, getting our craft business ready for the Florida Folk Festival in May and trying to gather more material to write more articles for all my various blogs I haven’t had time to update this website.

We have also had some changes to the volunteer’s roster over the last two months with family emergencies and illnesses calling them home. Not much they could do about it but the volunteer coordinator here seems to have a long list of volunteers waiting to get in so she had replacements fairly quickly. Now we are getting ready for the big annual charity Poker Ride this coming weekend. Katie and I have volunteered our time to help out. Should be pretty interesting to have some of the bikers from Daytona Beach riding through. There will be music, games, and lots of food. We will have to take a some pictures and post them on our Facebook page.

Winding Down Here at Stephen Foster

Posted on April 19, 2015 By Jolene MacFadden

AntiquesVillageWhiteSpringsFL (5) (Copy)We are winding down here at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park. The campground is looking better as we, and our fellow volunteers, slowly rake, sweep, clip and blow the leaves and trim the bushes in and around the campground area. We finally found a hand blower that I can start myself and I try to use it every day on the campsites. In the mean time another volunteer couple, Linda and J.T., are trimming the trees, bushes and along the roadways. They pay to stay on their campsite and work all day most of the week to whip the campground back into shape after a long fall and winter season. Our co-campground host couple, Dennis and Liz, are doing a great job as well as we learn to use the “automated” cleaning solutions station that was put into the storage areas of the bathhouses. This is suppose to help deliver the “right amounts” of cleaning solution with water ratios for proper cleaning and to help the park save money in the long run. We are still having to use a watered down bleach solution on the shower areas though as it stays so damp in the bathhouses between the rain and humidity. But, we do our best with what we are given and we are still receiving compliments from our fellow campers about how clean the bathhouses are and how nice the campsites are being kept.
