Communication Is Crucial

Communication Is Crucial

Communication is a crucial aspect of any volunteer work, and this holds true for those participating in work camp programs in Florida. Clear and effective communication not only helps to ensure the success of your volunteer project but also helps to build strong relationships with your fellow volunteers and the local community.

Here are some tips and tricks for first-time volunteer work campers in Florida to improve their communication skills:

1. Listen actively: Listening actively means giving your full attention to the person speaking, without interrupting or getting distracted. This skill is especially important when working on a team, as it allows you to understand different perspectives and communicate effectively.

Holiday Travel and Seasons Greetings

Holiday Travel and Seasons Greetings

Traveling during the holiday season has always been a norm for most of us around the world. Whether we wish to spend time with our friends and family at home or we wish to get away from all the hustle and bustle and enjoy some peace and quiet somewhere. A trip to go skiing or snuggle down with a good book next to a roaring fire in the mountains would be sweet. We hope that wherever you roam you travel safely and arrive at your destination in good health. For those coming to Florida for the Winter – Welcome, keep your social distance still, but volunteer when and where you can. Our parks and public land areas are open and could use some great workampers.

Happy Labor Day Workampers

Happy Labor Day Weekend Workampers! We hope you are keeping yourself safe but having a good time wherever you may be working at this time of year. We have created a little short video and uploaded it to our YouTube Channel. I don’t know about you but I am still trying to figure out all these new rules and ways of doing things to get more subscribers, more views, and more comments. This is supposed to go into the YouTube Shorts Section. We will see how that pans out. And we just noticed that we are up to 67 subscribers to this channel!!!

Got a New Cover and some Additional Pages added to the kid’s activity workbook

Getting Ready for Active Summer of Bad Weather

Posted on May 25, 2018 By Jolene MacFadden
Getting Ready for Active Summer of Bad Weather

For those of us sticking around this summer in sunny Florida and are Full-Time RVers we have to be prepared to bug out at a moments notice from any public land areas we happen to be volunteering in or just camping in. County, State and National Parks, Forests and Wildlife Refuges are required to evacuate any guests and personnel staying in the area during a major weather event. Now our normal summer storms don’t count and really only those “Named” storms are really required by some authorities as worthy of closing down services within the public lands themselves. Of course, once someone declares the on-coming storm as any level of a Hurricane you are going to relocate elsewhere anyway. Heavy Class A RVs are okay to stay in during a storm so long as you not under a canopy of trees. Both those thin walls travel trailers not so much.

Weird Weather We Are Having

Posted on April 21, 2018 By Jolene MacFadden
Weird Weather We Are Having

Florida like the rest of the U.S. is really having a weird batch of weather the last couple of months. Generally, by now we should be in the groove of bright, warm days, medium cool nights and occasional showers. But mother nature seems to have a touch of Alzheimer’s or something. One day bright and sunny and the next no sun and cooling temperatures like it’s trying to be winter again. I can’t imagine what we are going to have this summer. We have even already had severe thunderstorms this past week. The only good thing about that is that the attendance in the park slacks off a little during the rain storms. Yes, there are those who refuse to leave and just hang out for a while to see if it really means to stay.

Free Admission For Veterans

Free Admission For Veterans

Happy Veterans Day! We appreciate your Service and hope you and your family have a safe and happy weekend

All of our Florida State Parks and Federal Public Land Areas are offering FREE Admission to Veterans tomorrow. We hope you will take advantage of these and enjoy our great parks throughout the state. It seems the National Parks are offering Free Admission for both Saturday and Sunday. There are hundreds of deals being offered around the state as well as the country for local Veterans to enjoy. The local newspapers will probably have a listing of the restaurants in the area as well as other companies offering deals. This is so great and we hope that every single Veteran will take advantage of some of them.
