Ponce DeLeon Springs State Park

Posted on May 22, 2014 By Jolene MacFadden

PonceDeLeonSpringsSPPonce DeLeon Springs State Park is located in the Northwest Region of Florida and is administered with Falling Waters State Park. It does not have a camping area but does have Park or Residential Hosts volunteers. They are needed year round as with most all of our state parks and does have problems getting volunteers during the late spring and summer months. It is a small state park but has swimming in the springs, snorkeling, fishing in areas not designated for swimming as well as picnic area and trails. From the main website we learned that the springs is a brisk 68 degrees all year round!

Physical address to the park:
Ponce Deleon Springs State Park
2860 Ponce de Leon Springs Road
Ponce de Leon, Florida 32455
(850) 836-4281

Below are the answers to our usual questions of the Volunteer Coordinators to the State Parks:

How Many Campground and/or Park Hosts Positions Do you have, if any?

Ponce DeLeon Springs SP 0 campsite, 2 host sites

What kind of campsites do you have set up? (water/sewer/electric(20/30/50Amps)

Ponce DeLeon Springs has water 20/30 50 amp service and sewer hook ups at both host sites

Do you have a camping rig length limit? And if so what is it.

Host site can easily accommodate 45 ft camping rigs

What other kinds of amenities do you offer volunteers? (Free laundry, firewood, Ice, etc.)

We offer private laundry, free ice, and firewood when available

What duties do you require of your Park Hosts?

We always try to match the volunteers skills and abilities and their wants and desires to the park’s needs as well as sometimes manning Ranger Station, cleaning of facilities, mowing, different maintenance jobs requiring carpentry, plumbing, painting and landscaping skills.

What time frames do you require of your live on-site volunteers?

It can vary, again on the needs of the parks but usually from 2 to 4 months.

How many hours per week do you require of your live on-site volunteers?

State guideline ask for a minimum of 20 to 24 hours for the site. We general like to keep it at no more than 24 hours unless there is a special project that volunteers may participate on if they wish.
