New Parks For New Website

Posted on February 2, 2018March 14, 2020 By Jolene MacFadden

Welcome to our new website which we are developing into a companion site for our Volunteering in Florida Series featuring places around the state that you can “Workamp” in exchange for a campsite with amenities. As with the first book that we published several years ago we are currently gathering updated information about the public land areas in Florida that offer free campsites in exchange for working with the park, forest or agency facility. We will also be including private RV parks and other places around that state that offer places for full and part-time RVers to camp and work.

We hope to encourage more people to volunteer with non-profit organizations throughout the state but not only the retirees but college students with access to a self-contained camper and a few months during the summer to learn more about our environment. A lot of the park rangers and volunteer coordinators we have spoken to during our stay have stated that they would be willing to work with the students and teachers in regards to whatever paperwork they might need to gain extra credit for their services. We will be contacting the environmental science professors around the state to see if they would honor their volunteer service. It helps the student get some real-world experience and it helps the public land area personnel with getting more projects done around the area during months that they don’t have a lot of help. Of course, on the plus side, the volunteers will be able to enjoy the entire park, forest, etc. and it’s amenities for FREE while they are volunteering.

Our blog posts will be up-to-date information on new places to volunteer as well as reviews from places we have already volunteered. While we will be adding the new places to our comprehensive Parks Lists database. It is searchable and you can view places by zip code, by the city, by supporting agency, etc. Once you click on the park name you are taken to a detail page with complete information on the place, volunteer coordinator contact information and workamping information of duties, hours and what you get in exchange.

This is an ongoing work-in-progress and for those who sign-up for membership will have access to that information, all the posts, and the added pages as well. As we publish new books, you will be offered the opportunity to buy those at a greatly reduced price directly from our website. New members will be given a copy of either the eBook version of the latest book under the Basic 1-year membership for FREE while the Gold Members are given a signed paperback copy of the latest book published for FREE.

Stayed tuned and thank you for signing up for membership.
