10 Ways to make Money on the road

Top 10 Most Effective Ways to Make Money While Traveling Full-Time in an RV in the United States

Posted on September 16, 2023December 3, 2023 By Jolene MacFadden

Living full-time in an RV is a dream for many people, but it can also be expensive. One way to make it more affordable is to find ways to make money while on the road. The best plan is to establish your business (whatever you decide to do) ahead of time so that you can build up an audience, client list, preferred customers, etc. You do not want to have to build it while you are traveling. Here are the top 10 most effective ways to do just that:

Freelance: Freelancing is a great way to make money while traveling because you can do it from anywhere with an internet connection. There are many different types of freelance work available, such as writing, editing, translating, graphic design, web development, and social media management. You can find freelance work through online job boards, social media, or networking with other RVers.

Remote work: If you have a job that allows you to work remotely, then you can continue to work while traveling full-time in your RV. This is a great option if you have a steady income and don’t want to give up your job.

Authors How to Brand You and Your Books

Workamping: Workamping is a combination of work and camping. You work part-time for a campground or other RV park in exchange for a free or discounted campsite. This is a great way to make some money while also getting to travel and see new places.

Seasonal work: There are many seasonal jobs available throughout the United States, such as working at a ski resort, national park, or amusement park. Seasonal jobs can be a great way to make money and experience new places, but it’s important to keep in mind that they are often temporary.

Amazon CamperForce: Amazon CamperForce is a program that allows RVers to work part-time at Amazon fulfillment centers during the peak holiday season. This is a great way to make some extra money and get to see different parts of the country.
Start a blog or vlog: If you love to write or create videos, then starting a blog or vlog about your RV travels can be a great way to make money. Once you have a following, you can monetize your blog or vlog through advertising, affiliate marketing, or selling your own products and services.

Sell handmade goods: If you are crafty, you can sell your handmade goods online or at local craft fairs. This is a great way to make some extra money and share your creativity with others.

Offer your services: If you have any skills or expertise that you can offer to others, then you can start your own business and offer your services to RV campers. For example, you could offer pet sitting, dog walking, RV repair, or mobile detailing services.

Rent out your RV: When you’re not using your RV, you can rent it out to other travelers. This is a great way to make some extra money and help offset the cost of your own RV travels.

Teach or tutor: If you have any knowledge or skills that you can teach others, then you can offer tutoring or online courses. This is a great way to make money and share your knowledge with others.

These are just a few of the many ways to make money while traveling full-time in an RV. With a little creativity and effort, you can find a way to make a living while enjoying the freedom of the open road.

Here are some additional tips for making money while traveling full-time in an RV:

  • Be flexible: Be willing to take on different types of work and to travel to different locations.
  • Be organized: It’s important to be organized and manage your time wisely when you’re working and traveling at the same time.
  • Be persistent: It may take some time to find the right job or business opportunity. Don’t give up if you don’t find success right away.
  • Network with other RVers: There are many online and offline communities where RVers can connect and share tips and advice. Networking with other RVers is a great way to learn about new job opportunities and business ideas.
  • With a little planning and effort, it is possible to make money while traveling full-time in an RV. By following the tips above, you can set yourself up for success and enjoy the freedom of the open road.

Good luck out there. Getting yourself set up prior to hitting the road will relieve a lot of stress. If you are wanting to figure it out as you go we hope you have an nice “Emergency fund” set aside.
